July - Framed Original

July, an original 125 year collaborative collage on an original 19th century drawing from 1891*. Choose with or without the frame, there is only one artwork available. 

This original piece, complete in its original gold painted mount, measures 10x8 inches. It is reframed in a repurposed modern lightweight grey/white wood-effect frame from the early 2000's, but it also available without frame. The frame measures 29x34cm approx, it is an easy open felt back, and has both a standing arm and a small hanging loop. 

The original drawing is dated on the front with "1899" but in pencil on the reverse as "1891". The original frame for the piece also had the date "1891" on the reverse in pencil, which is why I have dated it 1891 rather than 1899 but either way, the original work is at least 126 years old. 

I got this drawing with the frame, which was the part I was primarily interested in, however I did not want to discard the work and so I decided to work with it, which was a first for me. I chose a complimentary subject matter which I feel does justice to the original piece and like to think of this as a sort of time-travelling collaboration work.

Each original is signed on the reverse of the mount, a one of a kind piece, that hasn't cost a fortune and wont be found anywhere else in the world. A little piece of specialty magic, this one really is unique and has been created over generations and 125 years!

I'm an Irish artist living in the UK countryside, working with vintage books and magazines, salvaged materials, old second hand frames etc as well as my own illustrations, photography and writing. My work is heavily influenced by music, vintage aesthetics, visuals and art from 1800s to art deco, mid-century to 1980's neon, and everything in-between and beyond with an extra focus on the themes of positivity, mental health, LGBTQAI+ and equality messaging (among lots of other things).

Supplied in a vintage frame which may show some signs of age or wear - just as it should. If you require any additional info, get in touch. As this artwork is made from original printed materials like books and magazines, they may fade when exposed to strong or direct light for extended periods. For best longevity of your piece, keep away from strong and direct light, and sources of moisture or humidity.

Please note some recycled packaging may be used in delivery, for a happier planet. I try to re-use as much packaging as possible.
